61st Tokamachi Snow Festival （Niigata)

The philosophy of the snow festival is "Snow is a friend not an enemy", and three hundreds thousands people visit this festival during 3 days. The stage of the snow statues is large enough certified by Guinness World Records and the venue of the Snow festival expands everywhere in Tokamachi City. On Saturday night, gorgeous kimono fashion show, singing show and sound and light carnival show by fireworks are held and are a must-see.

Period: February 19, 2010 - February 21
Venue: 20 minutes walk from JR Tokamachi Station. Bus is available.
Traffic:(from Tokyo) 91 minutes by JR Joetsu Shinkansen to Echigo Yuzawa, and change to the HokuHoku line 32 minutes to Tokamachi.
The nearest hot spring: Yuzawa Onsen (20 minutes by JR Limited Express )
