In 2010, various events will be held in Nara Prefecture to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo (Heijo Palace) Capital. On this special occasion, we will appreciate the fact that the ancient traditions and cultures of Japan have been preserved until today, and communicate to the world our wish to hand down those traditions and cultures to future generations.
From January 1st to Decemver 31st 2010 in various parts of Nara prefecture
- Main venue
- Heijo-kyo ruins April 24th to November 7th

- Main Hall of the Former Imperial Audience Hall (Daigoku-den)
- Duration: Around 30 minutes Admissions: Free
- As a national project, the Main Hall of the Former Imperial Audience Hall (Daigoku-den) has been reconstructed, where state ceremonies were held in the presence of the emperor.

- Self Guide System<500JPY>
- Learn about the history and culture of Heijo-kyo ruins by a self guided system operated by a cellular phone. Languages available in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and French.

These two theaters will recreate the magnificence of the international capital of Heijo-kyo and Japanese dimplomatic history through animation and computer graphics video. - Period: April 24th through November 7th From 09:00 am to 4:30 pm (Last admission 30 minutes prior to closing time)
Admissions: 500 JPY (Student and child rates available) - Please be aware that admission may be regulated when crowded.
Light and Candle Fair From August 20th to August 27th
- Heijo-kyo: A Corridor of Light
- The event will also feature a nighttime parade along with performances of ancient court music on traditional instruments.
* Lite up show of the Daigoku-den and Suzaka Gate
* Performance and concert of a variety of artists.

Heijo-kyo Fair From October 9th to November 7th
- Recreate the ancient ceremonies and rituals of the Nara period
- This fair will feature a variety of special stage shows with the theme of cultural exchange, including live performances by world-famous artists and artists with connections to Nara as well as folk art from the countries of East Asia and the Silk Road.
- Heijo-kyo Carnival: November 7th
- The Heijo-kyo Fair finale will consist of a spectacular carnival which observers may participate.

Kasuga Hotel - Ryokan



Located at the entrance of the Nara National Park, This authentic Japanese ryokan has a Garden Open-air bath.

Access to venue: 10 min. walk to JR Nara station, then use the free shuttle to venue.
