Ishibutai Kofun
Ishibutai Kofun or burial mound is a kofun in Asuka, Nara and the biggest one in Japan. It is now at the Asuka Rekishi Koen(Asuka Histirical Park). Ishibutai are made by more than 30 stones and the total weight is considered 2300 ton. Roofed by two capstones each weighing between 60 and 70 tons and modern estimates place the largest stone at approximately 75 tons. The wide flat top surface is like the shape of the stage, so it is called Ishibutai,"stone stage". Deceased person is unknown, it is said to be in power at the beginning of the 7th century.
