Kure

Kure is located in the South-West of Hiroshima prefecture and faces the Inland Sea. Its climate is mild, and it is a comfortable and natural seaside city. At the time of World War II, it was a naval base, and had a big population like one of 10 big cities in Japan. Kure was the home base of the largest battleship ever built, the Yamato. Currently, the industries of steel, vessel, pulp and machinery have been developed as a coastal industrial city. Today, museums such as Yamato museum and Iron Whale Museum are built and have also been attracting attention as a tourist destination to learn the modern history.
